By default, asylum applications are processed under the normal procedure. However, in specific cases, the application may be processed under an accelerated procedure. Indicatively, these cases include:
- Asylum seekers coming from countries considered safe
- Asylum seekers who have already applied for asylum in another country and were unsuccessful
- Asylum seekers who pose a risk to national security (e.g., those with a criminal record)
- Asylum seekers whose application is manifestly unfounded.
